Boer Goats Earn Honors at PA Farm Show

Harrisburg - Top meat goats from across the state were evaluated during the Open Boer Goat Show on Saturday, Jan. 14, during the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Judge Sherri Stephens from Spiceland, Ind., served as the evaluator and judged three divisions of goats: purebred and percentage does and purebred bucks.  

Champion Percentage honors went to LGF3 Angel exhibited by Sharon Fullteron from Land of Grace Farm in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County. ONBG Playtime exhibited by Cameron Reigle from Red Rock Acres in Middletown, Dauphin County, received Reserve Percentage honors.

Champion Purebred Doe went to LGF3 Cowgirls Dream owned by Sharon Fullterton of Land of Grace Farm in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County. She also owned the Reserve Champion doe, DC1 A176.

In the Buck division, WJD All Chromed Out took top honors owned by Jody Weist of Goats Galore in Middleburg, Snyder County.  Reserve Champion Buck went WVF Whispering Valley's Turbo owned by Cody Steele, Brockway, Jefferson County.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors. The show runs Jan. 7-14 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. Admission is free and parking is $10.
