Harrisburg - Rick Scott, of Moscow, Lackawanna County, took home top honors in the 2nd Annual Farm Team Draft Pull held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.
His team pulled a total of 7,850 lbs. a distance of 16 feet, 10 inches in order to win the contest.
Last year's Farm Team Pull winner, Courtney Bowman of Rockwood, Somerset County, took second place during the contest.
The Farm Horse Pulls are slightly different than other horse pulls. In order for a team to get a full pull, they are required to pull 20 feet at the current weight. Although the weight of the Draft Teams is a factor for other pulling contests, the Farm Team Pull does not take that into consideration.
A Teamster Award was also given away during the event to John Lindsey of Green Castle, Franklin County.
The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors. The show runs Jan. 7-14 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg. Admission is free and parking is $10. Visit www.farmshow.state.pa.us for details.
