Dakota Does It Again at the PA Farm Show Dairy Show

Harrisburg - JB-SG Aspen Dakota exhibited by Dale and Deanna Bendig of Gettysburg, Adams County and Creedin Cornman of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, reigned supreme for the second year in a row during the Dairy Show on Friday, Jan. 13, at the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show.

The four-year-old cow bested 12 entries in her class before being named Grand Champion of the Holstein Show.

Also during supreme champion selection, Jay Houser, Penn Springs, Centre County, was the first inductee into the Pennsylvania Dairy Hall of Fame.

Judge Michael Creek, Hagerstown, Md. evaluated the Ayrshire and Brown Swiss breeds; Judge Chris Lang, Big Prairie, Ohio, the Guernsey, Jersey and Milking Shorthorn breeds; and Judge Brad Hoover, Lebanon, Lebanon County, the Holstein and Red and White dairy breeds.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors. The show runs Jan. 7-14 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. Admission is free and parking is $10.
