Rocky Ridge Racks Up Wins at Farm Show Pleasure Show

 Harrisburg - Rocky Ridge Farms of Greencastle, Franklin County, shook up the competition on Thursday, Jan. 12, during the Draft Horse Pleasure Show held during the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Jacob Carbaugh took home the blue for the Senior Youth cart class, where entrants have to be between the ages of 14 and 19.

Additionally, the Carbaugh Family took home top awards in the Ladies' Cart, Commercial Hitch, Team Hitch and Youth Team classes.

Nathan Schaeffer of New Wilmington, Lawrence County, won the first place ribbon in the Men's Cart class.

The inaugural Stick Horse Races were held directly after the end of the cart classes, which allowed children in the audience of all ages to get a chance to compete with 'horses' of their own.

The first place winners for the Draft Horse Show were:

Men's Cart - Nathan Schaefer, New Wilmington, Lawrence Co.

Ladies' Cart - Carbaugh Family, Rocky Ridge Farms, Greencastle, Franklin Co.

Junior Youth (13 or Under) - Rebeccah Detraw, Delta, York Co.

Senior Youth (14-19) - Jacob Carbaugh, Rocky Ridge Farms, Greencastle, Franklin Co.

Commercial Hitch - Carbaugh Family, Rocky Ridge Farms, Greencastle, Franklin Co.

Team Hitch - Carbaugh Family, Rocky Ridge Farms, Greencastle, Franklin Co.

Youth Team - Jacob Carbaugh, Rocky Ridge Farms, Greencastle, Franklin Co.

The 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring more than 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors. The show runs Jan. 7-14 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. Admission is free and parking is $10.
