Edgar’s Got Just Enuff to Be Two-Time Champ
Northampton County Bull, Lebanon County Heifer Win Supreme Beef Honors
1/9/2012

Harrisburg – For two years running, Jamie Brozeman, Nazareth, Northampton County has exhibited the Supreme Champion Bull at the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show. Just Enuff New Edition Edgar, a junior yearling Angus bull received the honors Monday, Jan. 9.

“You have no idea how exciting it is to win both years,” Brozman said after an emotional acceptance. “There is so much more pressure the second year. Everyone here is so supportive.”

In earlier judging, SMCM Dirty Diva, a summer yearling MaineTainer heifer owned by Kurt Fleener of Robesonia, Lebanon County, and shown by Sarah Fleener, won Supreme Champion Beef Female. Sarah stated she had been showing at the Farm Show “for a long, long time.”

Judges Dr. Doug Parrett and Chip Kemp evaluated the more than 600 entries in the open beef show.

Parrett, an instructor at the University of Illinois, remarked on the difficulties of evaluating cattle of different breeds. The high-quality animals in the final drive made the task even harder, he said.

Kemp, livestock judging coach and instructor at the University of Missouri, grew up in central Missouri on an 800-head Angus-based cattle operation.
