Windermeres Markie Maid Makes Way to Supreme Champion Draft Horse Title

Harrisburg – Windermere Farm of Spring Mills, Centre County, took home the Supreme Champion draft horse title for the second consecutive year Friday, Jan. 6, during the Draft Horse Breed Show at the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

Gerald Allebach’s champion entry, Windermeres Markie Maid, was also selected as the winner for the Percheron Best of Breed class and was named Percheron Junior Champion Mare and Percheron Grand Champion Mare.


Walt Rice of Shining Eye Percherons, Boiling Springs, Cumberland County, took home Percheron Grand Champion Stallion honors with his entry, Shining Eye Farran. Rice’s other entry, Shining Eye Hawks Talon, was awarded with the Percheron Reserve Junior Champion Stallion title.

The 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors.
