Bada Bing! Lancaster County Youth Wins Best Doe at 2010 PA Farm Show

Harrisburg – Michael Sciotti’s four-year-old Saanen dairy goat, “Maude,” was named Best Doe in Show in the Junior Dairy Goat Show on Thursday, Jan. 14, at the 2010 Pennsylvania Farm Show. 

Sciotti also exhibited the Reserve Champion Saanen dairy goat, “Lillian.”

This is the first Farm Show win for Sciotti, a member of the Lebanon County 4-H Goat Club. He and his family own and operate Bada Bing Farm, located in Ephrata, Lancaster County, where they manage a 200 head dairy goat herd.

Judge Daniel Considine from Portage, Wis., evaluated the dairy goats and selected Sciotti’s doe, saying, “The objective of evaluating a dairy doe is to find a doe that will be productive for a long time.”
 
Six breeds and divisions were represented including Alpine, LaMancha, Nubian, Saanen, all other purebreds and recorded grades.

Reserve Grand Champion:  County Acres Hannah, exhibited by Heather Moffitt of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Co.

Grand Champion: Milton Hershey Coco Truffle, exhibited by Austin Shay of Hershey, Dauphin Co.
Reserve Grand Champion: Meadow Club V Crystal, exhibited by Carrie Bush of Lykens, Dauphin Co.
 
Nubian
Grand Champion: Ziggy Acers TXE Shamrock, exhibited by Kathryn Sciotti of Ephrata, Lancaster Co.
Reserve Grand Champion: Peach Valley TNT Ebony, exhibited by Christopher Blackadar of Riegelsville, Northampton Co.  
 
Saanen
Grand Champion:

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 285 commercial exhibitors.
