Team Effort Pulls Lebanon County Horses to Victory in Farm Show Hitch Competition
1/10/2010

Harrisburg – Returning champions Ken and Karen Sandoe, of Sunny Hill Farms in Myerstown, Lebanon County, won first place in several Draft Horse Hitch classes on Sunday, Jan. 10, at the 2010 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

The Sandoe family skillfully drove teams of their towering Belgian horses around the arena to win first place in the 4-Horse Hitch, Unicorn Hitch and Team Hitch, as well as second place in the 6-Horse Hitch.

Judge Kirk Fenoff, of Danville, Vt., awarded ribbons to the winners of six classes. Drivers had to control their horses, and were also judged on the appearance and presentation of their teams and wagons.

A crowd favorite, the Team Hitch Commercial class was won by Dave and Susie Rohrback of Shartlesville, Berks County, driving a Cinderella carriage covered with lights. The competition also included a hearse and covered wagon.

Other classes included the Youth Team Hitch, Western Riding and the ever-popular Team Obstacle Course.
