Armstrong County Heifer Wins Supreme Champion Junior Beef Female at 101st PA Farm Show

Harrisburg – SAGE 603D 1, a heifer owned by Rylee Stockdale of Dayton, Armstrong County, was named Supreme Champion Beef Female of the Junior Breeding Beef Show on Sunday, January 8, at the 101st Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

Champion breeds competing for the supreme champion title included champion representatives of the Angus, Hereford, Limousin, Maine Anjou, Mainetainer, Shorthorn, Simmental and All Other Breeds categories. To evaluate the female champions, judges Dr. Todd Turner of Somerset, Ohio and Dr. Dan Eversole of Blacksburg, Virginia collaboratively selected the Supreme Champion honors.

Both judges noted the quality of the animals in the ring and complimented the junior exhibitors for showcasing an impressive lineup of show stock. In the end, the judges concluded that the depth, capacity and ease of movement of the All Other Breed representative allowed her to rise to the top, winning her the honors of Supreme Champion Junior Beef Female.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event, featuring 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits, and 300 commercial exhibitors. The show runs January 7-13 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and January 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and parking is $15 in Farm Show lots. The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center is easily accessible from nearby Interstate 81.
